newbie question. audio source on stand alone.

Post by mojo97 »

i've just started playing around with g-force this evening, so please bear with me if this is a simple question... I guess i should start with what i'm trying to do then explain my problem...
i use Meedio as a front end on my home theater PC. i have a secondary display that is a 5" LCD. i plan on using G-Force on that secondary display. I use Meedio's built-in music player (not a supported player to use g-force as a plug-in) to play my mp3s. i want g-force stand alone, while running on the secondary monitor to recognize that i'm playing music and respond to it.
but, when i startup the stand alone, and hit shift-A, i only get one audio input option, my line-in/mic. it doesn't recognize that i'm playing music and i don't seem to have input option for it. btw, in case it matters at all, my audio card is an M-Audio Revolution 7.1.

please tell me i'm missing something simple?

thanks!

I wish I could help; but I'm not a PC person. Try shooting an e-mail to Andy if you don't hear from anyone soon.

I have a simliar problem with a usb audio interface, edirol ua-5, the input can be switched onto use the ua-5 as an input source but it doesn't react oto it. I had to take a line out fom the ua-5 and back into the oc, mic input and used the windows sound devcie to play through g0force. Bit of a hassle but it works.

i might be able to do a hack like that, too. however, i was hoping that what i want to do is already supported. i mean, when i run g-force as a windows media player plug-in, it recognizes the music i'm playing and responds to it. so, why can't the standalone do the same thing? It seems the standalone will only recognize the input ports of my soundcard.

I'm not actually using WMP as my main media player. What i'm using is a built-in media player on my Home Theater PC front end application (Meedio). Basically, i need to use g-Force as a stand-alone but have it recognize music being played in another app.
I'm not sure how that chronotron app plays into what i want to do. Am i missing something?

thanks for the feedback!
