Win 7 32bit, iTunes 10.7.0.21, G-Force Plat. 4.20: Error 20

Post by rapanuy »

Hi.
I had G-Force running without problems till yesterday (especially the standalone ran without probs).

Two days ago I had to completely reinstall iTunes due to a quicktime-problem. G-force standalone still ran a day later without problems.

Now (as I realized that g-force is no longer listed within iTunes) I also reinstalled g-force.

Trying to run it within iTunes results in above errorcode.
Trying to run the standalone results in above errorcode.

Any ideas?

Thx

Hello rapanuy

If G-Force is having a problem running on your computer, the first step to resolve it is getting SoundSpectrum engineers technical information about your computer. Our software contains functionality to automatically write out your system's hardware profile to a text file, but it must be manually activated. This allows you to simply copy and paste this information into a SoundSpectrum support ticket, making it possible for SoundSpectrum to troubleshoot your problem.

Please follow the below steps to ensure that your support ticket gets the best analysis possible:

1. If you haven't already, open a new SoundSpectrum support ticket and thoroughly describe the problem you're having. Be detailed. The more details and information you provide, the more likely SoundSpectrum will be able to assess your problem.

2. Start G-Force in your media player (or G-Force Standalone).

3. Press SHIFT+i. You should see several lines of small white text appear within G-Force. If you don't see this text, ensure that G-Force has keyboard focus. If you're using Windows Media Player, enter full screen mode while G-Force is running in order for your key presses to be effective.

4. On your desktop, you should now see a file named "SoundSpectrum Log.txt". Open this text file, select all (CTRL+A on Windows and Command+A on OS X), and copy its contents to the system clipboard (CTRL+C on Windows and Command+C on OS X).

5. Paste the text to your support ticket (CTRL+V on Windows and Command+V on OS X) and submit it.

Hi BTT. Thx alot.

Nothing happens on shift + i, neither in standalone nor in iTunes.
Clicking right in the black error window I see options like fullscreen..., hotkeys..., documentation..., but clicking there does nothing at all.

I already reinstalled g-force, no change.
So all information I can provide is from my system (which is the same for 2 years).

Again the way of the errorcode:
Pre-version of iTunes (updated regularly) + g-force 4.20 standalone ran together.
Quicktime update not possible for about 2 month due to a missing *msi-file.

So a complete deinstall of iTunes 3 days ago, newest version installed.
g-force standalone still running.

Realized there is no visual plugin within iTunes.
Now also reinstalled g-force 4.20.

Error=20

I did. I got a response that the used version 4.2 is no more covered by what I payed for. Kind of irritating, because I downloaded as long as my code was accepted by this site.

And: the code is accepted during installation, so where is the point?

My question what else version (I still have all here) would be the right one with my last code was never answered.

That sucks, and makes me think better not renew some day again.

Hello rapanuy

Could you tell us ALL the versions of G-Force you have?

When did your licence expire?

Do you intend to renew your licence?

Hi BTT.

I bought my first licence in Dez. ´05 up to 2010.
My download folder still holds 23 versions from 3.55 to 4.20.
I am now running 4.12.

The point is: the support thinks
"that your last G-Force license expired for access to updates in September of 2010"
My last Paypal Transaction shows:
"30. Nov 2010 07:20:59 MEZ
Transaktionscode: 5EG299xxxxxxxxxxxx
Sie haben eine Zahlung über $15,00 USD an SoundSpectrum, Inc. (sales@soundspectrum.com) gesendet."
Aside of the payment dates I had a 6 month renewal strech offered by soundspectrum due to an e-mailadress change and therefore a missed renewal (the mail I still have).
Quote: "Though, instead, I decided to extend your current license expiration by 6 months, so you may feel free to continue to use this license for updates until August 9th.
Thanks again for the support, and we hope you enjoy G-Force.
Regards,
This 6-month stretch was still in charge for the purchased licence (see below):
Purchase Date: November 30, 2010
Updates Until: December 01, 2011
+ 6 months "extendsion..."!

which than should make May 2012.

I´ve put all this in my since 2 weeks unanswerd ticket. You ask me if I want to renew?
Thats not a question you should ask right now.

Thx for your help

Hmmm I must be missing something, you got an extention to run G-force until may of this year, its now October , isnt it 4 months past your last experation date?

Hi juxtiphi. You don´t have to quote me in full lenght, I know what I wrote
Too much quoting kills a thread.

I received an extention to renew, not to "run" g-force. As far as I know I may run whatever I downloaded with my licence for the rest of my life. I just do not receive updates no more, which was fine with me.

Like I startet this thread: I ran the last of my versions 420 until last month, and suddenly its illegal?

Hello rapanuy

The following is official SoundSpectrum policy:-

What happens when SoundSpectrum releases new versions of a software product? Will I be able to install an older version?

Yes. Even after an older version of the product stops shipping, you will always be able to install your copy of the older product. The sole purpose of SoundSpectrum's validation system is to prevent software piracy and the only reason a license code won't be accepted during the validation process is if the license code has been flagged as being illegitimate.

(Source:- SoundSpectrum)

How to resolve this issue?. Either you can contact SoundSpectrum, and quote the above to them, I am sure you will receive a sympathetic response, or I can contact SounsSpectrum on your behalf.

Thx, like I wrote: I have an open ticket which is not answered any more.
So thanks for your time, not using g-force often I thought I´d skip renewal 2-3 years, but now I´ll guess it´ll be longer.

Hi rapanuy

I only quote to make sure that members are notified through their email that their posts have been answered.

Back in the day I had some problems with my computer and G-force was installed and uninstalled a few times and downloaded the exe 3 or four times hopeing it was an error during download, I also went back through a couple versions then I got a new computer and I was contacted by Soundspectrum asking what was going on because I made it look to them like I was trying to install G-force on a bunch of machines which wasnt really the case.

After you install G-force Soundspectrum can look at how many times you have downloaded and installed the program if you accidentally create a red flag they will take care of it atleast they did for me.

Hi. I downloaded it once in April 13th, and installed it once on my PC.
Due to a Quicktime problem (I used CCleaner) Quicktime was no more updated, therefore I went for the complete iTunes re-install.

The rest is mentioned above. Thx to you also.

Hello rapanuy

Just a thought, I don't suppose it's the Bonjour thing causing this problem. Several members have in the past found uninstalling Bonjour has cured various problems. Want to give it a try, and see how G-Force behaves?

I may have missed seeing your ticket number you received from SoundSpectrum, I could help you more if I had that ticket number.
