Post by Jeff »

Greetings,

I can not get the sprites provided with SoundSpectrum to load using the Ctrl Y option. What am I doing wrong?

Sprite Images still won't launch

Post by starbucking »

Greetings,

Pressing Y does not cause anything to happen. When I press Shift Y I get an error message:

Error Loading: Night Earth

Night Earth is one of the JPG files that comes with the program. What's not working?

Thanks,

Jeff

Instructions for photo / video sources in G-Force:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) Locate your G-Force folder (on a pc, it should be in \Program Files\SoundSpectrum\G-Force) (on a mac, it should be in Library / iTunes / iTunes Plug-In)

----------------------------------------------------------------------
...followed the instructions for a Mac...but in my iTunes Plug-in folder, all that is there is something called "G-Force for iTunes.bundle" and that is ALL that is in that folder; double-clicking on it opens iTunes, btw...

also looked in the iTunes Plug-in folder in the computer's library, but all that was in there was something called "Quartz Composer Visualizer.bundle"

soooo....any suggestions on how to proceed? what I would like to do is insert an apple logo jpg into the sprites foreground folder so it would look like the apple visualizer...

btw, also did a search for "sprites" but no returns on that search term or "sprite" :(

thanks for any help :)

I'm using iTunes 10.x on MacOSX 10.6.x and the trial version of G-Force, if that makes any difference...

the configs are called sprites but they arent named sprites by default, they reside in a folder with the other soundspectrum stuff.

in windows the soundspectrum folder contains a folder named "sprites", in this folder are bmps, jpgs and text files which run as "sprites" dont know where they would be in a mac os file system.

is this it? how can it be customized if it is?

Post by teke978 »

okay...found a .txt file in my "Home/Library/Preferences/SoundSpectrum/G-Force" named "Preferences(iTunes).txt" so maybe that's what I need to do what I want in adding the logo in the foreground? however, I saw nothing in that txt doc for individual jpg's, just durations for slideshows, sprites, particles, etc.

any idea where THOSE would be located and maybe customized? thanks!

btw, here's what the txt doc I'm talking about contains:

"adding the logo in the foreground"

Post by jerohm »

You CAN'T ... unless you have a commercial licence. ASSUMING you DO, locate the "Script Command Reference.txt" for info HOW. You can only do background "Sprites". Since I only have a PC, I can't give you exact folder locations. The Preference file you reference, is for other things...
luck

thanks for the reply...by "commercial" license, do you mean the paid version of G-Force or is there another version just for professionals? just wondering because in an earlier posting, a site admin seemed like he was saying this could be done but he didn't mention if it was only in the paid version...

thanks, again, for the reply.

If you plan to use G-force in a public place or performance you need a "commercial" licence that gives you the right to do so. Like usung G-force as the vis for a club or concert.

the regular licence "the one you purchased" is for personal use not commercial.

"another version"

Post by jerohm »

the personal version has a couple of features disabled that you can Only do if you have a commercial license... The ones that come to mind are Image (foreground) overlays and using the control toolbar over a network (i.e. not running on the same machine as the copy of GF). There may be others.
