Hi, I am a graphic design student and I have been working on an idea for a couple of months, but have now come to a standstill having researched the Internet thoroughly.
The idea requires a website which has a block of text in an outline. Behind the text (which has to be transparent) will be a visualization of sound (similar to the one found on iTunes). As the user reads out the text the visualization will react to the sound of his/her voice running through a microphone, and the outlined text will appear full once the sound is registered.
This does not have to be too complex. i.e. it would not necessarily have to react to different frequencies, but would obviously be nice if it could.
My current experimentation consists of using 'G-Force' for the visualizations, recording my own voice and screen capturing the results. I then put this in to 'After Effects' with a layer on top which consisted of a Photoshop file with transparent text. This in fact worked perfectly, however I require a method of having the same result live, so that the user can speak the words and the visualizations fill the transparent text.
I am a beginner with Flash and know only the basics. I have read numerous websites, but am yet to find any guides or tutorials about the subject.
Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards,

This is a very interesting project. I also have and use the Adobe software you mention.shtalk wrote:

Regards,
I have experimented using G-Force in web design. If you could post a couple of screen captures of your video approach it would help to understand your objective.
Doesn't your application assume the webwatcher will have to have G-Force installed on their computer? You're not just invoking a Flash movie, or an mp3 file which would then automatically call up an iTunes screen, right? You want the webwatcher's voice to "stimulate" a G-Force visualization setup inside the iTune player screen, right?
Something in the back of my mind says there was a problem using Flash transparency in html...something about inconsistent results in different browsers. I can't remember what it was specifically but I ran into a roadblock. That was a while ago and the problem may be solved.
If you have something like Camtasia, you can screen-capture your video version so the forum can get a better understanding of what you're trying to do.
