full screen issue again

Post by Igor »

In Quicktimes' preferences enabling "keep fullscreen mode when player is inactive" I can work with any application on my first monitor while keeping QT running in full screen on the second.
My question is if the paid version of GF has the option (like Quicktime Pro has) to maintain GF in full screen mode on a second monitor while running other software on the first. As for now (I have the trial version), activating full screen mode in GF, both screens go in full screen and makes it impossible to see the desktop.
I have a Mac Powerbook and assume this is a software problem and not a hardware problem because with the same hardware one application can (Quicktime) and the other can't (GF).

Many thanks.

this is not a problem with GF or a special feature only available in the full version. its all in the way you use your computer the computers capabilities and which programs do what for you.

GF will display on a second monitor with out effecting the main screen if your video card is set up propperly for a dual view. some cards dont have this, instead its just an extended desktop which means what ever you view in fullscreen on the second monitor will blackout the main or split the window down the middle because it can only be on one screen at a time unless you have it set to clone view which will just show GF on both screens.

or if you use QT its the same thing it can only work within its limits.

I view GF on my 42 inch flatscreen while maintaining my desktop for what ever I want.

check all the options for your video card and make sure the setting for dual monitors is set to show two different screens.

No, I use fullscreen external output all the time with other programs, including quicktime, jitter, module8, etc... while maintaining a desktop on my main screen. I checked the gpu settings to be sure, and it is showing two discreet screens, not one extended. I have mirroring turned off. This is definitely an issue with GF.

I Don't Know About Your Setup But...

I have the paid version. I have no problems running it in full screen on my second monitor. In fact I am doing this right now. I am running Windows XP with an Nvidia card on a Dell notebook. I have never had any problems with my ATI card at home either which also is a two monitor setup. I have also done running Whitecap in fullscreen on one and G-force on full screen on the other and had no problems as long as I run both of them at the native resolution of the monitors.

If you buy the program and it doesn't do it, then it is most definately a problem on your side.
