Fullscreen with 2 Monitors = 1 Black?!

Post by Jonh2o »

How come when I have G-Force in full screen mode it makes the other screen blank? This is an invariable nuisance as I have to escape full screen mode to look through my music when both could be displayed at the same time and not interrupt the experience.

Is there by any chance a fix-it-yourself remedy for this? Or, how would one change the default size of the standalone to that of their monitor as a work around?

how do you have your monitors set up?

like a clone, two seperate screens, or one large screen encompassing both?

if its the 3rd try setting it to one of the other configuations and see if that helps

hey jonh20

I'm kinda bummed at the probs you are having and I wish I could be of more help.

I guessing here but it may be a conflict with your drivers try updateing them to the most current versions both audio and video and see if that helps.

I do know from my own experience that when both my onboard soundcard and my audigy were enabled Gf didnt work right until one of them was disabled.

I dont know what typs of sound cards you may have but if you do have more than one make sure only one is enabled.

I wish I could suggest more.

Did you ever figure out your problem? I am having the same problem. I am running on a MacBook and if I put it in full screen on the secondary monitor (HDTV) the main monitor goes black. Really annoying because I want to be able to change the music without having to close gforce on the TV.

No I haven't found a solution. I can nearly assure everyone that it is simply the way full screen operates. I'd like to suggest to Andy that due to the increasing popularity of dual monitors there should be a property for this annoyance to those not having a single display. After all, it's "Full Screen", nt "Full Screens"

This issue has been addressed before I brought it up a long time ago,
I have an nvidia 7600gs and dual monitor works great for me.

So, when you go into Full Screen mode the monitor that G-Force was on
plays G-Force and the other monitor does not go black and allows you
to do other tasks like surf the web, etc.?

yes

my card has 3 options for extended desktop.

dual view = 2 seperate desktops
clone mode = 2 desktops that show the same thing
extended desktop = one large top spanning both screens
it has a couple others but I dont use them.

it sounds to me like your top is the extended type, if you run GF in this mode going fullscreen will drop the other screen out .

i have the same "problem" with GForce on my iMac (Alu) with an ATI,Radeon HD2600. If i switch to the extended screen mode, i get a black blank screen in iTunes. Only one monitor shows up G-Force. In the Sreensaver of OS 10.5 i can setup the second monitor and i get two different visualisations.

If i sync booth monitors, it works perfect (but why not ;-) )

I would like to get the whole g-force to display on both of my monitors in itunes, something that is simply not possible at this time.

I like WMP as I can expand it to the full length of both my monitors and play from there but it is still not exactly 'full screen' but that is the closest I have ever come. It would be really neat if I could have a similar ability with Itunes where it would play the same video relay on both of the screens.

I see that you have a dual monitor g-force option for screensaver, why don't you add the ability for all monitors to play the same video and not have each separate monitor play it's own video?

If you have your video card set to use dual monitors then you can watch GF on both.
if you want one large screen set it to clone mode and both displays will be the same.

Yes, then that messes up the location of where all my shortcuts on my desktop are located and I have to re-locate them if I do that.
