If you launch the toolbar first, it will most likely expect the standalone to be activated as the target. I can't vouch for this being the case for the iTunes vis. This is my experience working with the standalone, as this is IMO way more stable than the iTunes build.
I've purchased the Gold version which doesn't include the standalone. In the Apps window on my Mac, the G-Force folder just contains two app files - the Menu Bar and the V-Bar. If I open the V-Bar first, it is automatically selected as the Target when I open the Menu Bar. However, the Menu Bar is unable to select the Visualizer in iTunes, whether I open iTunes beforehand or not. I already shelled out an extra $5 for the screen saver (which I am also unable to control with the Menu Bar) so maybe this function failure is a way of making me pay more for the Platinum version?

I wouldnt go that far, if the gold version isnt working with itunes thne the platinum probably wont either. How recent is your version of GF ? there have been a couple updates in the last few months. try updating and see if it helps.
Itunes and GF have a love hate relationship people who love itunes find out quickly that itunes hates GF . there have been problems with itunes playing nice with GF right along and I always suggest using another player until all the bugs are worked out but thats little consolation when paying for a product that isnt doing what it should.
have no fear though Andy is very concerend with the satisfaction of GF users and I'm sure he is already working on figuring out whats wrong.
I assume the version is the latest, since I just bought it.
Happily, I don't have any problems playing G-Force via iTunes. I simply select it as the Visualizer in the iTunes menu and off it goes.
The problem is that I can't control what it shows. When iTunes' own visualizer is selected, there is an Options selection in the menu that allows you turn cover artwork on and off etc. Ideally, it should be possible to access the G-Force Menu Bar via this same Options dialogue in iTunes. It would be great if Andy could sort that one out.
This is a good point; but I'm afraid it might take a lot of scripting/other kinds of noodling around to ensure that the Toolbar can be used within iTunes without having the GF-iTunes vis commands override everything.
