Subject: no hardware acceleration with Windows Mediaplayer in fullscreen mode or in a very big window
Bug Report - brief description of problem
System Information
Version of your OS: Vista ultimate 64bit
Version of WhiteCap 5.0.2
Version of your media player: 11.0.6000.6344
Graphics hardware info: NVIDIA 9600GTS (latest drivers 163.69)
Other system information: Resolution 2560x1600
Detailed Description of Bug
I am using WMP 32bit.
Whitecap is so slow in full screen mode or in a very big window that it is like no Direct3D acceleration is used...
I have tried all other resolutions 1920x1200 and lower and everything is working perfectly. When I come back to 2560x1600, the bug is still there.
The first time I changed the resolution and went back to 2560x1600, it seemed to have solved the problem, i.e. Whitecap was working smoothly as it did at lower resolutions. However, I was unable to do it again, so it's not even a workaround. But, it was clear that the problem had something to do with some Direct3D accelaration problem. Some initialization problem related to the 2560x1600 resolution, I think.
Description of How to Replicate Bug
Select a 2560x1600 resolution
Open WMP
Play a music file
Click fullscreen mode
Choose the Whitecap visualization
Don't hesitate to ask for more details if needed.

Whitecap Platinum no HW acceleration with WMP
High Resolution & Dual Monitor setup (same bug)
Hi,
I think i may know what your problem is. Please correct me if i'm wrong but doesnt that resolution (2560x1600) require dual-link DVI?
When you use dual link DVI your actually running your computer in dual monitor mode on a hardware level because DVI can't push out more than 1900x1200 on a single interface. (bandwidth limitation)
I have a dual monitor setup and when I move whitecap to the secondary screen the hardware acceleration stops and the cpu takes over making it so slow the mouse bearly moves.
I think the bug in white cap is that it doesn't dual screen on a direct 3d level.
Any thoughts?
