I found that for Windows Media Player, the Preferences (Windows Media Player).txt file has these settings by default.
FrameSizeLimit.Height = 0
FrameSizeLimit.Width = 10000
I changed the FrameSizeLimit.Height to 10000 and got full screen. Beautiful!
