I too was waiting for darkroom to appear. Any news on this?

I hate to say though that my plan was to render movies to play on the Aquos LCD in the living room, but in the meantime I've got an XBOX360 and use the Jeff Minter visualiser in that instead. Sorry about that.

Thanks for the thread link - all very disappointing. Ah well, maybe I'll try a few other apps. I was just using foobar as I have Vista on the laptop and I was trying apps out.

I have an IBM T43, and just to mention that SoftSkies 1 and 1.1 doesnt install -wrong hardware or drivers...under Windows Vista Ultimate

Sadly I can't tell you if Softskies works or not - I got an error message saying either the hardware or the drivers werent good enough

I've just been playing around with Vista on a laptop here at work, and decided to stick GF on and see how it goes. it seems to work OK - screensaver is fully functional as is the WMP visualiser!

This laptop only has a Windows Experience Index of 2.1 so it's a bit sluggish.

Just as an addendum, in the full product (or at least in the Platinum version) : Settings > Use High Quality Rendering Turn this off, and the clouds appear like the config key Jon pointed out. To follow up to Jon's response, is it that the Intel GFA950 Macs can't do this for a hardware reason, or is...

FWIW, if you have access to a Mac, you can use Soundspectrum's own Darkroom App.

I might be doing it wrong, but when I log into my GF download area, I see the advert for a 20% discount on SoftSkies on the right, but when I click it, it still says $30 for Platiunum.

Whilst the SoftSkies screenshots look nice, all I get in iTunes on my Mac (see profile) on the free demo is a nice blue gradient. No clouds. I've tried playing with some options, but nothing as yet. I thought the newer versions used the GPU? *If* that's the case then I would image most modern GPUs from nVidia or ATI (6xxx/X8xx respectively) would be fine.

That said, a quick CPU can't hurt either on the back end.
